Shadows; part 5.

“Why, what did I say?”
“You said the voice, from last night, sounded like it knew where it could hide, knew the forest.”
“Well, that’s clearly my mysterious cleverness that comes out when it pleases, not when I want it to--”
“Come on,” Tear interrupted, “We’re going out.”
“WHAT! You know exactly what we were told, unless asked for, don’t leave the house during the day, full stop. Well, I suppose it doesn’t really affect you anymore but it affects me. Seriously, you’re meant to be the sensible, clever one and I’m the stupid, rash one. And you of all people should know about light, I mean, you’re you, for goodness sake’s. And plus, I don’t want to go anywhere.”
“Look, we’re in the middle of nowhere, no one, other than the people we know or invite, comes here... ever.”
“But clearly someone else is here as well, so it’s risky to go outside other than when it’s dark.”
“Exactly, there is someone around here that knows we’re here. Now either they live in the forest or on the other side of the forest. They are likely to come out in the day, so is it better that we go and surprise them in the day, or they come and get us when we’re unaware and they’re fully prepared? If we find whoever it was first, then we have the high ground, we ask the questions, okay. So you can either grab your gear or come with me, or you can stay here on your own.”
“Fine, though you don’t exactly leave me with many options. I can’t let you go alone, and plus we both know I’m the stronger one of both of us.”
“Do you want to start this again, anyway, it’ll pass the time until the post arrives, hopefully you might hear from them today.”
